Expanded metal

Steel mesh, also known as stretch mesh or expansion mesh, is a continuous mesh material made by using a whole sheet of metal, carefully stamping and simultaneously stretching it to both sides. Its major feature is that the nodes and mesh are integrally formed without welding or weaving, with high overall strength and reliable structural advantages.
| Parameter | Common Range |
|---|---|
| Sheet Thickness | 0.5 mm – 8.0 mm (Typical: 1.0–4.0 mm) |
| Short Way Diamond (SWD) | 10 mm – 100 mm (Common: 12.5 mm, 25 mm, 50 mm) |
| Long Way Diamond (LWD) | 25 mm – 200 mm (Common: 25 mm, 50 mm, 75 mm) |
| Strand Width | 1.0 mm – 10 mm (matched with sheet thickness and mesh size) |
| Sheet Size | Standard: 1000×2000 mm, 1220×2440 mm; customizable |
| Mesh Shape | Diamond (most common), hexagonal, fish scale, etc. |
Core features: high strength, lightweight, multifunctional
Excellent overall strength and bearing capacity: The mesh nodes are formed by the integral stretching of the original sheet without any welding or weaving joints, so they have strong tensile and shear resistance, can withstand heavy loads and impacts, and are commonly used as part of building load-bearing structures.
Lightweight and material saving: The stretching process expands the sheet into a mesh, significantly reducing weight while protecting strength, and saving raw materials, combining economy and environmental friendliness.
Excellent sliding and permeability: The diamond or hexagonal mesh and the three-dimensional tendon formed by stretching provide excellent sliding effect. The mesh is transparent and does not affect lighting, ventilation, and visibility.
Flexible design and installation: It can be processed into flat plates, coils, or further bent into curved or cylindrical shapes. It is easy to install and supports various methods such as welding and bolt fixing.
Good practicality: The substrate is mostly made of carbon steel, stainless steel and other metals, and can be subjected to surface treatments such as galvanizing and spraying, with long weather resistance and service life.
Common installation and usage issues of wire mesh in mine support
Rolled mesh is widely used in mine support (commonly used as roadway surface protection and isolation of gravel) due to its good strength, flexibility, and relatively easy installation. However, in complex underground environments, its installation and us
